The Lincoln Lawyer is a Netflix series that follows the defense attorney, Mickey Haller, starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. The series debuted on May 13, 2022 on Netflix, and is directed by David E. Kelley. It is based on various Michael Connelly novels and has received very good ratings which has prompted it to continue receiving new seasons. Netflix recently delivered the 4th season on February 5, 2026.

Mickey Haller is a defense attorney in the city of Los Angeles. After his rehabilitation from substance abuse Haller aimed to revive his law career. Haller was able to win Trevor Elliot’s case, a millionaire tech company owner, who was accused of murder. That case got Haller a lot of fame and got him lots of new clients. He works from the back of his Lincoln Navigator, which led him to be nicknamed “The Lincoln Lawyer.” 

Haller works alongside his friend Cisco, who is played by Angus Sampson and his second ex-wife Lorna Crane, who is played by Becki Newton who works as his secretary.  Cisco does all the field investigation for Haller and is also dating Lorna now. His first wife, Maggie McPherson played by Neve Campbell, also works as a lawyer and still has a friendship with him because they have a daughter, Hayley Haller, played by Krista Warner. 

All of the characters are unique and essential to drive the development of the main character. The character development is also very good throughout the show. Haller is presented as a professional and very serious lawyer that is dedicated to his clients and his morals. The creativeness of the writers allow for the show to have a deep and unique plot. The connection between the characters also adds to the depth of their connections and relationships that change how Haller acts throughout the show. 

The show has an impressive attention to detail and is very realistic when it comes to the depiction of legal ethics and trial dynamics. That realism could potentially intrigue those who plan to pursue a career in law. 

The show is very good at equally distributing the lawyer part of the show and the background action that happens between it, such as Haller’s personal life and the actual investigation done by his team and the individual impacts each character has on the story. We learn a lot about Haller and the people around him like his wives and friends. This show reminds me a lot of The Rookie, in the way it portrays their profession and personal life. 

I highly recommend this show to people that enjoy watching similar shows such as The Rookie or 9-1-1 because they are very similar. I also believe this show could be good for people that might want a future career in any job related to law. Overall The Lincoln Lawyer is a great show to watch during your free time that is very entertaining and realistic.
