After nearly two years of negotiations, Preuss educators approved a contract with UC San Diego on Wednesday, February 25th, ending a standoff that included two strikes and an Unfair Labor Practice complaint.
The agreement came just as Preuss and UCSD had entered fact finding, where a neutral mediator reviews both side’s proposals and recommends a contract. The faculty voted to confirm it the following Wednesday.
The four year contract runs through 2028 and includes teacher salary increases. The Unfair Labor Practices complaint filed with the Public Employment Relations Board will be voided following standard procedures.
The resolution ends a dispute that strained staffing and saw multiple teacher departures. After twenty months of bargaining, strikes, and uncertainty, Preuss educators finally have the contract they fought for.
