The Preuss School is known for high excellence, high expectations, and the extensive work it does on preparing students for college. The Preuss School teaches discipline, hard work, and offers many learning opportunities to those who are willing to take it. Despite all this, one issue that has been ongoing is the conditions of the school bathrooms. They have gotten worse, and there are some problems that need fixing. This is why the Preuss School should renovate the school restrooms in the facility.
The major problems are the sinks in most bathrooms. Many sinks have ongoing issues with the sensor’s activation, low pressure, or do not work at all. The access to basic hygiene is a necessity, especially in school environments due to many students sharing the same space every day. When the sinks are broken throughout the school, students are left unable to wash their hands, which increases the spread of germs by a high percentage especially during flu and cold season, as proven and stated by The National Library of Medicine.
In addition, even though the bathrooms from Preuss are cleaned regularly, the daily use of them makes it very difficult for them to stay fully cleaned. The floors, wall separator, and other areas look messy through the day and worn fixtures make it harder to maintain consistently to a clean environment. While custodians work hard to keep bathrooms tidy, the frequent use and worn equipment creates challenges for good maintenance.
Finally, the condition of the bathrooms can affect students’ comfort and focus throughout school hours. When a student doesn’t feel comfortable using the restroom, they could end up trying to avoid it entirely, which can lead to many distractions from concentrating in class. Students already manage a lot of coursework, so they should not have to worry about whether they can use a restroom that is functional and clean. A supportive learning environment should always include access to a comfortable restroom.
Students work hard every day and deserve a facility that mirrors that work . Fixing the bathrooms would improve students’ daily comfort and reassure that students’ concerns are valued and taken into consideration.
