The long awaited horror sequel known for its top tier visual effects, Five Nights At Freddy’s 2, was released in theatres throughout the U.S. on December 5, 2025. The movie was directed by Emma Tammi, and is a spin-off to the first movie. Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 is a great movie that should be watched by all who crave the suspense of jumpscares and eerie scenes.
The plot centers around Abby Schmidt, played by Piper Rubio, the sister of the security guard Mike Schmidt, played by Josh Hutcherson, from the first movie. Abby tries talking to her “friends” from the new awaited diner. However, Abby finds that she does not come across her friends, but instead abandoned animatronics who are not what they seem they are. It’s so intriguing because viewers don’t know how much these animatronics hold in terms of power and what they can do to wreak havoc in society.
One aspect that made this movie incredible was the costume designs. Throughout the movie these abandoned animatronics are introduced with different versions of themselves. Originally the animatronics from the first movie were disturbing to look at, but throughout the second movie, designers opted to be more subtle with the looks of the animatronics, being titled “toyed” versions of themselves for the younger crowd to find them friendly.
Another aspect that made this movie complete was the visual effects and the shots Melissa Brockman the visual effects director implemented. Throughout the movie these animatronics make scenes more suspenseful because they lurk in the dark with their eyes glowing from up close. Additionally they included visual effects to how animatronics function. Some of their modes can change their eye color. For example, red indicates danger, and blue which indicates when they have a calm demeanor.
Overall, I would highly recommend this movie to middle schoolers who relate to some of these characters like Abby, with her perseverance in finding her animatronic friends without giving up hope no matter what she is told from her friends or her brother. Overall this is a great movie to watch over this upcoming winter break with friends or family.
