The new game Silksong is a sequel to the big hit game Hollow Knight. Silksong is a 2D open world adventure game that is available to play on any platform. This game, released on September 4, 2025, was created by Team Cherry. Building off the popularity of their previous game Hollow Knight, this game expands on the Hollow knight’s universe with a new protagonist, new environment, and a more complex combat system.
In this long awaited sequel, the player plays as a character named Hornet, a small needle-welding heroine. The story begins when Hornet is captured and taken away to the kingdom of Pharloom that is currently infested by insects. The player is forced to make their way up and ascend through a tough environment, fighting insects, bosses and unlocking secrets as well as help npcs for rewards . The point of this game is to unlock the truth about Hornets capture.
Unlike new games of today that guide players step by step, this game throws players in without any help whatsoever and forces them to figure things out. Players explore different cities, caves, temples, and each is connected like a huge maze. Every place has different creatures and bosses that a player must defeat. Another aspect that sets Silksong apart from other games is its game movement. Since Hornet is supposed to be fast, agile and acrobatic, the controls are more complex and the move sets are faster, so it takes time to get used to the game but once mastered the game feels so much easier as you don’t make as much mistakes like fighting bosses becomes more manageable because you now understand how to play. Traveling also becomes easier because the movement of the character Hornet becomes easier to control.
The game’s visuals also make the game more intriguing because every location, boss, or creature kept its signature hand drawn art style created by Ari Gibson this improves the game because and makes the game feel more alive. The makers drew a variety of different biomes, from moss covered ruins to fungal glowing forests. The soundtrack, created by Christopher Lakrin, gives the same emotional depth as the first game.
Sliksong took me over fifty hours to complete. It took loads of silent raging, late night grinding, and looking up advice on how to get to the next location or beat the boss. Despite this game being such a challenge, I really did enjoy the experience of completing this game.
Overall, the game Silksong is like going into a living fantasy world where you are the hero. The game lets the player explore and struggle with new challenges, and grow at the player’s own pace. I really enjoyed playing it and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a challenging, complex game, and for those who are willing to take the time to uncover its secrets.
