A movie for the new generation called KPop Demon Hunters was released on Netflix over the Summer. I 100% recommend this movie specifically for middle schoolers, but should be watched by all who enjoy drama and a taste of music.
The plot centers around a group of three main K-POP members that are voiced over by famous actors, Huntrix. Rumi is voiced over by Arden Cho, Zoey, voiced by Ji-young Yoo and Mira, voiced by May Hong. These three vocalists spread their creativity in music by performing to their fans within Seoul. However, the three are secretly protecting everyone in Seoul from barbarous demons by singing their songs to push back their progression into the population of Seoul.
Throughout the movie new K-POP group consisting of five members, Saja Boys, Jinu, voiced by Ahn Hyo-seop, Mystery, voiced by Alan Lee, Abby, voiced by SungWon Cho, Romance, voiced by Joel Kim Booster, and Baby Saja, voiced by Danny Chung are sent to oppose the works of Huntrix and try to take control of Seoul through their attraction through music and physical appearances. They experience issues during the mission.
One aspect that made this movie so amazing was the vibrant colors and animation. KPop Demon Hunters atmosphere throughout the movie expressed so many emotions and creativity. For instance, the concerts that these two groups performed made the Huntrix group its main pillar to subtract the factors of repetitiveness. Also, the fluidity in these animations make this movie so enticing. Having actions like eyes popping out and funny movements in awkward situations gives viewers a comedic atmosphere.
Another aspect of the movie that is significant with this is the costume design. In the middle of the movie, Rumi wears pajamas and meets with one of the Saja Boys members. But she was treated ridiculously wearing such an unserious outfit. It’s such a significant scene because it just shows character development and the creativity everybody has in themselves that brings the vibrancy in society.
Overall this film was perfectly made for a musical and a perseverance genre. I would highly recommend this movie to middle school students because it expresses creativity and the ability to find their identity as Rumi does in this film. Not only that but it also isn’t just music and perseverance, but it shows the hardships in finding your identity and accepting yourself for who you are. Overall this is a great movie that everyone should watch.
