The Tik Tok shop is a new feature that has gained popularity since first being on the Tik Tok app in November of 2022. The online shop is a new platform of social commerce that allows users to buy products through the app. Also, it allows small businesses to grow, as the products and websites are sponsored on Tik Tok.

The Tik Tok shop only started with shopify merchants but has now expanded to worldwide buyers. Many influencers on Tik Tok started selling their products through the Tik Tok shop as it has gained popularity. One example is Kylie Jenner, who started selling her products from her brand called “Kylie Cosmetics,” allowing her fans to shop through Tik Tok.

This online shop has had the biggest impact on current teenagers known as Generation Z. These Tik Tok users have made the most purchases on the platform. Many viral products are purchased worldwide after viral Tik Toks popularize the product, such as colognes, shoes, and other accessories. The shop makes it easy for users to purchase by just clicking on Tik Tok creator links and directly purchasing from the creator’s links. 

However, the products on the Tik Tok shop are known to be cheap in quality and repetitive products from imposter brands that are produced to look similar to products from big companies. Many users have claimed that products on Tik Tok shops are fake versions of Crocs, Apple products, cologne brands, Pro Club, Adidas, and Nike..

It is important to look out for scams and fake products on the Tik Tok shop before making a purchase. Tik Tok has removed many fake items and dangerous items from the shop. Many users have also not received their items and Tik Tok requires a refund from the buyer before 90 days of the purchase. 

Tik Tok ensures their products are safe to purchase and users are shipped the items they purchase. Some users have purchased products from the Tik Tok shop and have not had any concerns receiving their products. 

Lander Santana (25’) states, “I have bought some colognes from middle eastern websites, and I was very satisfied with the quality and smell of the colognes.” 

Overall, Tik Tok shop items are only worth it if people order small gadgets and small items that are known such as home appliances, portable chargers, entertainment devices, and beauty supplies. While users are driven to buy products from the low prices and discounts the shop offers,  I recommend avoiding purchasing items that resemble similar products to big company items.
