The Preuss School has had recent problems selling tickets for dances such as Fall Formal and ASB Ball. It’s sad to see students not go to their own high school’s event, and I recommend that all students attend. High school dances are not always the corny embarrassing ones viewers see on Disney Channel, but an opportunity given to students to have a great time and live in the moment. School dances are worth attending because it gives students a chance to experience a great high school experience, socialize, build connections and memories, and also financially benefits their school.
My personal experience at a school dance was amazing. My favorite part was the dancing when everyone was engaged and jumping around. Even if dancing isn’t for everyone, watching them is just as fun. Also at Preuss, there is a very diverse student population, hearing different music and watching different dances is something fascinating to watch as well.
High school dances are worth attending because it gives students a chance to have a memorable high school career. High school is not only about the tests, quizzes, and constant assignments being given, but it is also about creating experiences that people will remember for the rest of their lives. These dances give students a chance to have fun, dress up, enjoy music, and take a break from school responsibilities. Also, attending these events helps students become more connected and gives them a sense of belonging that grants a positive high school experience. Not only does it give students an experience they will never forget, but it will also allow them to develop skills and relationships.
Students should attend school dances because it helps students to socialize and build relationships. Socializing at school is very limited and is only appropriate during certain times of the school day. School dances are a space where you can talk, laugh, and enjoy time with people outside of the classroom. It also allows students to meet new people or talk to people who they do not normally get to, which can open up a lot of doors and new opportunities to meet new friends. For the students who are normally shy, school dances give them a chance to step out of their comfort zone and build confidence in public places. Communication and social skills are important both in high school and especially in the real world.
Finally, high school dances are worth going to because they are an important fundraising opportunity for the school. The money raised from the tickets being bought goes to the school’s sports teams, clubs, programs, and events like future dances. On top of students having fun by attending the dance, they are positively impacting their school and peers by purchasing their tickets and supporting them. Instead of seeing dances as a boring event and let stereotypes consume their perspective, students should see them as a meaningful way to support their school while also enjoying themselves.
