Congratulations, Preuss students. You all have done well surviving through another year, and now you get your hard earned break. You should look forward to relaxing, sleeping in, and doomscrolling. However, please keep in mind that most of you are not finished with Preuss, so there are a few things that I would highly suggest you do over the summer.
Exploring your interests further in summer is a great place to start. This is a time where you can have fun, spend time and hone whatever skills you have never had time for during school. If you are into sports, maybe head outside a bit more. If you have always wanted to improve at an art skill, take a class or two over the summer. Pick up an instrument as well, and try learning that. Keep your summer busy with stuff that will help you grow as a person.
Another piece of advice is to read your summer reading book; it will be the best investment you have ever made. This is the 2013 bitcoin level of investment. Not only will this give you a headstart on next year’s curriculum, but this will also help with focus, reading skills, and keeping your mind in shape while you are rotting your brain away during break. Also, if you have time, please try and look over some of the material you are going to be learning for the following year. This will prepare you for the incoming workload because it does not get better or easier next year. Classes only get harder, but that is ok since Preuss students are getting stronger every year.
Preuss students should also fill up their time with community service to not only boost college resumes but also prepare for the Service Learning Project and Senior Exhibition. Community service allows Preuss students to connect with people, gain a lot of experience with working, and will develop great collaborative skills, which are all beneficial to growth.
Finally, students must attempt obtaining a driving permit or a job if you are of age. A few more dollars in your pocket and the ability to drive a car will make your life so much easier. With a driver’s license you guys can ride around and meet friends easier, and use your hard earned money from your job to have fun.
Enjoy your summer, Preuss students, but remember not to laze around. Spend your time wisely and fill up your day with productivity and activities that contribute to your growth.
