The Preuss School is known for having high academic expectations and preparing students for college. As a result, they try to make sure their students stay focused during the school day. Newly added Yondr pouches have become part of daily life on campus. Now that students have had time to get used to them, many have even started to share how they feel about the pouches, and how it affects their focus, daily routines, and overall school experience.
One of the biggest changes the students at Preuss have noticed is the focus they have in the classroom. Without constant access to phones, some students feel there are fewer distractions during lessons. Preuss already expects students to stay focused and work hard. Some believe the Yondr pouches help keep classrooms more attentive.
“It’s easier to stay focused in class because the thought about checking my phone has fully disappeared,” William Espinoza (‘27) commented.
Yondr pouches have also changed how students go through their daily routines. Many students used their phones for reminders, communication, and staying organized during the day. Due to the phone policy implementation, students have had to adjust and plan ahead more.
“I have lost access to communicate with loved ones in case of an emergency,” Daniel Castro (‘27) explained.
Since Yondr pouches are now normal at Preuss, students have had time to see both the positives and the challenges. Some students like having fewer distractions, while others are still getting used to the changes. While many other students believe Yondr pouches help, others say it takes time to get used to not having your phone, which demonstrates that students have different experiences with the system.
Students at Preuss work hard every day and deal with many responsibilities. Because of this, their opinions about school policies matter and help portray how daily life on campus is affected. Over time student feedback will help show how Yondr pouches continue to and how it shaped the learning environment at The Preuss School.
