As June gets closer, so does graduation and senior goodbyes. Lesly Castillo (‘24), a senior at Preuss who will be graduating in June of 2024, is interested in studying radiology at San Diego Mesa College to help her get into her ideal career of being an Ultrasound Tech.
Lesly was born and raised in San Diego, and before coming to Preuss, she attended Johnson Magnet Elementary. In 2017, she started her sixth grade year at Preuss, excited to meet new people and learn more. From the beginning, Lesly knew what she wanted to become and has always been determined to achieve that goal. She wants to be an Ultrasound tech because she enjoys helping others, specifically young women who need support and more knowledge when going through the difficult process of pregnancy.
“I mainly look forward to being helpful to others as much as possible to my ability,” stated Lesly Castillo (‘24).
Lesly’s main inspirations are to become someone important in the future and someone who can be useful to others who are in need. Her goals are to own land and to own a house. She also plans on having a salon and, of course, becoming an ultrasound tech to be able to accomplish her other goals.
“My main goal is to just keep moving forward and getting myself to a better place than I am now, specifically financially because I really want to grow as a person,” expressed Lesly Castillo (‘24).
The college Castillo chose is San Diego Mesa College because a lot of other colleges don’t focus enough on radiology, which is what she wants to study and plus, the college is near her home. Castillo expanded her college options by also applying to other colleges such as San Marcos and Bakersfield.
“I got accepted to other colleges, of course, but my plan at Mesa was more convenient for the topic I wanted to study, so I ended up choosing Mesa,” elaborated Lesly Castillo (‘24).
As Castillo steps into her final stage of high school and thinks back on all of the experiences that helped her achieve success, she wishes to pass this advice to current Preuss students.
“Continue whatever path you choose and even if things happen throughout your journey, just know that things happen for a reason and know that at the end everything will be alright” stated Castillo (‘24).
