Varsity advances to CIF
The JV volleyball team ended their season with an exceptional record, winning 4 out of their 5 games. The Varsity team, after experiencing six losses in a row, followed that up by winning 13 out of their 15 games of the regular season before advancing to playoffs.
“I think we lost so badly in the beginning because we gave up easily, but now we’re stronger than ever and we will do better during the playoffs,” stated Maya Servin (‘27).
The most competitive matches for both the JV and Varsity teams took place against Hoover High School. The JV team beat the Cardinals 2-1. The varsity team also defeated them by 3-0. Following this, the JV team lost their home game on Thursday, October 17th but still maintained their Triton spirit.
“A strength we have as a team is that we’re all familiar with each other. A weakness that we do have, however, is our practices started around 2-3 months ago so we didn’t have as much time to be great,” mentions Arsama Kibrom (‘28).
The Varsity Volleyball team’s senior night was held on Thursday Afternoon from 4:00 P.M- 5:30 P.M. at the UCSD Main Gym and the JV team was there to support their school and show off their Triton spirit. The team defeated Cristo Rey 3-0.
Varsity made it into the playoffs. They faced the Julian Eagles and won against them 3-0, which qualified them for the semi-finals. They will face the Monarch Royals on November 5th.
