Preuss is a beautiful campus that is well put together, but when students mistreat it, Preuss can slowly turn into an unappealing campus. Students have been drawing on desks and tables, but now are vandalizing walls in the concrete circle seating area, the tables in the amphitheater, and in the bathroom stalls. Graffiti can make Preuss look unappealing.
Students need to respect the school property and stop making graffiti in our school. The janitors are working hard to clean the graffiti students are making but it’s difficult when the graffiti is consistently coming back again and again. Students need to take into consideration that the Preuss faculty and administration are here to help students get into a four year university, but without the cooperation of students it makes it difficult to work with them. The respect has to be mutual.
“Not all the students are the problem but those who are making graffiti and frequently doing it are making our school look bad. It makes the school look dirty. Those students need to grow up and start giving Preuss the respect it deserves,” says Renata Espinoza (28’).
Having graffiti can look messy and unappealing. When students come to Preuss, they expect to see a clean environment, graffiti prevents those expectations from becoming a reality.
“Students are making graffiti everywhere, even on books. This school year I was looking forward to checking out a book but it turns out a student drew graffiti on the front cover and inside of it so I had to give it to the librarians. I was disappointed that someone else’s bad actions affected my reading,” said Andrew Vazquez (28’).
Not only is graffiti unappealing to look at but it can cause damage to our school. Having graffiti on books can damage them and having to replace the damage can be expensive. Writing on walls, tables, and desks is pointless when you can just write on paper and keep writing.
Graffiti has been a long standing problem at this school and it’s still continuously going on today. Students need to better learn how to respect school property and put an end to graffiti. As long as graffiti keeps going the school isn’t going to look any better.
