From freshman to senior year, seniors worked hard to achieve their current status. For example, Adrian De Leon, he has worked hard like every senior to get where he is today. He participated in the Multicultural Empowerment Club, La Gloria Latina, and the Criminal Justice Club. All of his hard work led to him receiving a full-ride scholarship to a four-year university.
What college did you commit to and why?
“I committed to UCSD. The reason why I committed here is because it is close to home. I didn’t really think about going far; I just really wanted to stay close to my family.”
What will you be majoring in and why?
“I will be majoring in molecular and cellular Bio. I had internship in my Junior year, and I really liked it. I can see myself becoming a research scientist”
What is your dream job/career
“My dream job/career is to be a research scientist, and hopefully, when I’m older, I can own my own lab.”
What are some challenges that you faced being the Boys Varsity Soccer captain and what did you enjoy about it?
“Some challenges that I faced being team captain, probably when we lose a lot of people are passionate about the sport, so it’s just uplifting them and trying to motivate them and to look at the next game is probably the biggest challenge. What I enjoyed about being Captain was definitely seeing all my teammates and my friends grow as players individually and winning a league.”
What is something that you wish you knew as a freshman in high school?
“Something I wish I knew as a Freshman was how important your grades matter. So if you really want to get into those top colleges, your GPA does matter and so do your extracurriculars, so you should really start to build your resume as soon as you get into high school.”
What advice would you give to your younger self?
“Advice that I would give to my younger self is to keep pushing forward and all the hard work that you’re going to put in will be rewarded eventually.”
What motivates you?
“What motivates me is definitely my parents. They have been there for me my whole life supporting me in whatever I want to accomplish, so going to college and getting a full ride is the best way that I know how to give back to them.”
What advice would you give to upcoming Seniors?
“Advice that I would give to upcoming Seniors is definitely ensure that your decisions are your own when you’re deciding to go to college. There are a lot of factors you have to think about. Whatever decision you make, just make sure that it is your decision and nobody else’s.”
