As the class of 2025 gets ready to start a new chapter in their lives and find out more about their upcoming careers, Vianeth Montano (‘25) has her career planned out and hopes for many more opportunities to come her way. With this being Vianeth’s last weeks at Preuss, she hopes to share her achievements and moments alongside her fellow classmates. Vianeth was the Varsity Volleyball team captain in her senior year and was in the Spanish National Honor Society in her sophomore year.
“I will be attending San Diego State University. I will be going here because I plan to major in television, film, and new media production,” states Montano (‘25).
After browsing many universities, Vianeth found that SDSU provided the best program for her major and had many opportunities like The School of Theater, Television, and Film.Vianeth hopes to make short films and become a film director or screenwriter.
Throughout Vianeth’s journey at Preuss, she experienced hard times, but she always had advice for herself.
“My motivation when times are hard is to just remind myself that everything is temporary and that nothing will last forever. Whatever it is, I will do my best and it will pass, one way or another, so I just need to keep going, because there will always be greater times ahead,” informs Montano (‘25)
Preuss offers many extracurriculars for high school students and middle school students. Vianeth feels there is one particular extracurricular that many incoming high school students or just high school students should participate in.
“ I feel like sports will help you in many ways. You will be active and healthy, but you will also learn to work with other people, and understand the meaning of teamwork and collaboration. It could also help you build friendships as well as obtain new skills athletically,” advises Montano (‘25).
While serving as Varsity Volleyball team captain, Vianeth has had several memorable moments with her teammates during the Varsity Volleyball team season. There was one specific moment that stood out to her.
“A highlight from my senior year would probably be the time our school played against Hoover High School. It was the best volleyball game our team had, as we had so many students from both teams fill the stands. There were crowd wars, and the environment was so alive and fun. It was one of the best days from my senior year,” claims Montano (‘25)
Preuss has taught Vianeth many lessons that have helped her shape her life. Vianeth hopes that students at Preuss will hopefully see Preuss as a guide for their futures.
“One life lesson that I have learned from Preuss is that life will change severely. Some things that I thought would last forever were suddenly just gone. People change and so do you, but you have to make sure that you stay focused on growing and changing for the better. I have learned to accept that the only thing that’s permanent in life is impermanence,” states Montano (‘25).
Vianeth feels like she has grown over the years and has matured ever since 6th grade.
“Something I will tell my 6th grade self is to make sure you don’t waste your time on distractions, focus on why you’re here and do things that really matter. I would tell myself to not worry about anything or anyone but myself, and that everything will work out exactly the way it’s supposed to,” explains Montano (‘25).
Vianeth offers her final advice to the underclassmen: “My advice for upcoming seniors is to remember that everything will work out the way it’s supposed to. Don’t compare your success to those of others, everybody has their own different path and you are where you’re supposed to be. Always aim to grow your mind and character, and just remember that you’ll be great.”
Vianeth hopes incoming seniors will take her advice and be successful with it during their senior year.
