The Preuss School now has one of its first ever middle school clubs this year, the 100 Wonder Club. This club is focused on eighth and seventh grade middle schoolers helping the sixth graders with their assignments. In addition, the club offers tips for studying efficiently for high school. Middle school scholars also get the option to work independently on homework during club meetings.
Sixth grade student Katrin Lobach, club president, held her first meeting on November 18, 2024. She continues to have club meetings once a month on a Monday of her choice in the club supervisor’s room B201, Ms. Fox’s classroom, during lunch.
“I chose to establish the 100 Wonders Club because I thought that making the first middle school club at Preuss about studying would help students get their work done but also get the chance to socialize with their friends. Because studying and getting good grades takes a lot of time and work,” said Lobach (‘30).
Lobach plans to uphold the 100 Wonders Club at Preuss and continue being president next school year as well.
“The 100 Wonders Club is a great opportunity for getting work done and I highly recommend coming during school lunch for meetings. You won’t have to do it at home because even sometimes I forget to do my homework when I get home,” says Lobach (‘30).
For those that are interested in joining the 100 Wonders Club, vice president Raghad Mahmoud does have restrictions. Mahmoud does not permit students who have lower than an S in students’ citizenship grade or students who disrupt other students during independent work times. The club president also expects club members to attend all club meetings.
“I recommend this club to any middle schoolers who want help to be prepared for high school and want to attend college,” states Lobach (30’).
The 100 Wonders Club not only tutors students but also offers information to middle school students about the credentials needed for UC colleges through the upcoming years of high school.
As a result, the 100 Wonders Club had huge impacts on helping the 6th graders at their first year transitioning to Preuss.
“This club has supported me so much through my first school year at Preuss. This club has helped me by giving me quiet time to work, getting math tutoring by other middle school students and I plan to continuously be a member of this club,” comments Lia Moreno Almeida (‘30).
