Her dedication goes beyond the classroom, as she continues to learn from her students and strives to improve her teaching methods. Her learning experience has taught her valuable lessons about understanding and connecting with others.
“It’s become apparent to me that everybody has their own individual story, everybody has, like, more going on than what we need realize, and that if you just take the time to like listen to people and try to connect with them that most people respond really well to that.”
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Greco enjoys many activities that keep her schedule busy and balanced
“I love to exercise, I like to work out, I’m into long-distance running right now, um, you know, weightlifting, I like to crochet and spend time with my kids and my husband.”
Despite her vast amount of commitments, including being one of the first AP African American Studies teachers and serving as a workshop assistant for the College Board, Ms. Greco manages to maintain being an overexcelling teacher. Her contributions to developing resources for the AP classroom and an upcoming textbook show her important role in education.
“I was awarded outstanding high school, social studies, teacher of the year by the California Council for Social Studies, last year, so that’s probably definitely my biggest, professional accomplishment,” informs Ms. Greco.
“It’s hard to sort of balance the things that you need to be doing with what students need to help them work.”
Even with the many challenges she faces on a daily basis Ms. Greco remains dedicated to making learning a meaningful experience for her students at Preuss. She hopes her students will apply what they learn in her classes to make a change in the world.
“I think a big thing is just like the importance of knowing about the past and knowing about the importance of paying attention to what’s going on in society and also realizing that there are so many things that happen throughout the time that can be connected to with on a personal level, and there’s a saying that, like, having a sense of history makes you feel less alone.”
