To celebrate the New Year, the class of 2025 hosted their second annual New Year’s Carnival on January 31st, from 4pm to 7pm. Approximately 100 students from both middle school and high school attended, enjoying games provided like football toss, cup pong, puck flicking, and basketball hooping among others games.
Members of the class of 2025 worked together to organize this year’s Carnival and the previous one.
“The Carnival is designed to be an event that enriches our school community and spirit, that way Preuss’s dances, homecoming events, or Spring Learning Showcases are not the only exposures to community building for Preuss Students,” states Jenisha Semexant (‘25) Carnival organizer.
Semexant was one of the ASB members who came up with the idea to host a Carnival at Preuss. She and a few others came up with this idea last year and are hosting it again this year.
“One of the main things that inspired me to create an event like the Carnival was that the Preuss community, especially between middle and high schoolers, needs an event that could be considered ‘a normal event’ to help these two demographics merge,” stated Jenisha Semexant (‘25) Carnival Organizer.
The New Years Carnival Games attracted more students this year, especially basketball hooping since many students like to play that sport.
“The Carnival was surprisingly really fun, I went with some friends and spent the whole time there playing games,” stated Maya Servin (‘27).
Since this is the second time Preuss hosted this event the creators of this idea have learned a few tips from the previous time they hosted and wanted to make a few changes.
“One goal I have for the Carnival is to increase the participation in the number of volunteers and students enjoying the event. We have realized this year that the Preuss Community needs more events that promote school spirit and participation of the Student Body in events ran by our school,” states Jenisha Semexant (‘25) Creator of Carnival.
