With Squid Game Season two coming out I was super excited for its release. The first season was amazing, and I was excited for the new season. Unfortunately, season two was not as great as the first one. It felt like the producers were trying to do too much and it just didn’t feel the same.
For starters, the characters were disappointing and lacked depth in their back stories. In season one viewers got to know about each individual character’s story. This made characters like Ali and Jang very memorable and crucial to the entire story. However, in season two the characters were just not that interesting. Characters like Gi-hun were not given as much attention compared to how they were in season one. Newer characters like Thanos were much more interesting than our main character.
Another thing that bugged me was how rushed and unfinished the show felt. There are a lot of side plots that are just left unanswered such as who the new VIPs are. The voting process felt like it was just there for the sake of adding content. It left a lot of things to be desired which make it very hard to justify watching.
The ending felt very rushed and didn’t conclude the story in a complete way. It’s an abrupt ending that just leaves more questions than answers. I was expecting a few more episodes but that was it. While the first season’s ending was shocking, this one just felt like producers were setting up another season instead of giving us a somewhat proper ending.
Overall, I was disappointed with season two. It lacked the depth and excitement that made season one so amazing. It would have been so much better if they had just left the series how it was and not release a second season.
