Voting for the 2024-2025 class board took place on Friday, May 10th. The elected class board members will commence their roles as president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer next school year.
The winners for the 2024-2025 senior class are: Jeneisha Semexant (president), Klarissa Valdez (vice-president), Thomas Lam (secretary), and Brenda Velazquez (treasurer).
For Juniors: Kaelynn Wang (president), Jazmine Nguyen (vice-president), Mia Gidey (secretary), and Yenafanta Hailemariam (treasurer).
For the Sophomores: Debora Hernandez (president), Sussanna Benyam (vice-president), and Delina Benyam (treasurer).
Lastly, for the freshmen: Arsama Kibrom (president), Ilany Pena (vice-president), Jamie Valdez Arredondo (secretary), and Richard Casha Yiv (Treasurer).
The role of a class president is to decide on major class decisions such as prom and other events planned for their class. A secretary’s role is to work with the president to organize meetings and overall communication with the whole class board. The treasurer will be responsible for the money involved in the senior events planned by the Class president.
“I hope to bring new ideas and positive changes that will benefit our class,” expresses Ashley Yudho Garcia (‘25).
The purpose of having the elections and students taking up these roles as leaders is because students need representatives to showcase the student body’s voices as a whole. This helps each individual class in case there are issues and unsatisfied needs that should be heard and/or fixed.
“I believe in hearing the voice of the student body to continue making ASB and senior events fun,” Jenisha Semexant (‘25) states.
Before and during the elections, candidates were only allowed to campaign through social media, posting information about their character and accomplishments to persuade voters why they are the best candidate for that certain role.
“Overall planning my campaign was very important to me because I feel the way that I put out my campaign played a key role in also defining myself as a good candidate,” stated Jenisha Semexant (‘25).
Now that new candidates are chosen, ASB is eager to see what next year holds in store for the Preuss community and hopes that students continue to participate the following year.
