Compelled to help others, Ms.Bandy is now Preuss’s college and workforce coordinator. Although she was born in San Francisco, Califorbia she spent most of her childhood in Florida

Ms. Bandy always knew she wanted to become an educator so when she went to college, she decided to double major for the reason that many programs require that students have a degree in the subject they plan on  teaching. She studied human development and biology at UCSD for four years as an undergraduate and now is currently earning her doctorate in Educational Leadership. She has been in this process and is excited to be able to wear her doctoral robe at the Class of 2024’s graduation.

Aside from being our workforce coordinator, she has been working at Preuss for exactly 10 years, first, as a science and biology teacher for 7th graders and 9th graders. After a 8 years of teaching, Ms. Bandy moved into a different department and became a part of the office staff with what is now her current role.

“I started to feel I could do more for the students if I wasn’t teaching and if I started to go into a different role and I just know there’s so much more I can do,” expressed Ms. Bandy.

As the college and workforce coordinator, Ms. Bandy helps scholars make a plan that best fits their needs. Ms. Bandy works with seniors to plan their future college plans and provides help with the process of scholarships as well as applying for financial aid. Another one of her duties is to attend the Board Director meetings. On top of that, Ms. Bandy is always working to put together certain events such as in-person college visits, mock interviews, fundraisers, senior prom, and much more. The mock interviews were on February 24, 2024 and the main purpose of them was to give the students an opportunity to prepare for possible interviews for future jobs, colleges, or programs.

“No matter how chaotic her life may be, she will always stop and figure out how to help. She’s always there for you, ” commented Ms.Vanessa.

Ms. Bandy’s contributions have brought up various opportunities for students to engage in new experiences, whether it’s college visits, college applications, and scholarships. Preuss students feel very lucky to have her as a college advisor and look forward to continuing working with her on future projects.

“She’s always been there to support me as a student and has always given me the guidance I needed,” said Briseyda Young (‘25).
