Singer and songwriter Taylor Swift is currently on a worldwide tour performing songs from each of her 10 albums. Each album in her trajectory is referred to as an “Era” which is the reason for the tour’s name. After touring in North America, her next leg will be in Europe in summer 2024.
With over 70,000 fans showing up to each concert, the international star makes over 10 million dollars each night. She usually makes 3 appearances in each city, so all of her fans get the chance to attend her concert. Taylor Swift fans, also known as “Swifties,” have been eager to have a chance to see her perform since she has not gone on tour since 2018. This was due to the long process of re-recording various songs on her albums after her former producer, Scooter Braun, legally had the rights to her first 5 albums which motivated her to re-record them. Now whenever people listen to one of her songs that she re-recorded, the song’s title contains “Taylor’s Version” meaning she has the publishing rights.
Swift has become one of the most famous female singers in the world, on the same level as Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Beyonce. With over 50 awards, 200 million followers and 5 billion streams on Spotify, she has become arguably one of the most successful singers of all time. Many fans refer to her as “Ms. Americana” due to her major success and has written over 200 songs throughout her career. She has had many collaborations with singers such as former 1 Direction band member Zayn Malik and other famous stars such as The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Bon Iver, and Future. She has also voiced characters in movies such as The Lorax, Cats and made a special appearance in the famous movie The Giver.
Taylor Swift was born and raised in Pennsylvania, but later moved to Nashville to continue chasing her dreams as a singer and songwriter. At 16 years old she released her first album in 2006, and gained fame fast. By 2009, she had won various important awards such as the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, Billboard Music Award for Top Female Artist and the Brit Award for International Female Solo Artist. She is the most streamed female singer on Spotify and has obtained an honorary doctorate degree in Fine Arts, in 2022, from the University of New York.
Due to many people not being able to, or having the funds to attend one of her concerts, she has documented all the tour, and made it into a documentary. The documentary will come out October 13, 2023 and will be released in AMC Theatres throughout the nation.
