Universal Studios seasonal event Halloween Horror Night began September 8th and ends on Halloween Oct, 31. which the park is transformed into a terrifying nightscape after 5:30 p.m.

The park becomes Halloween and horror themed with props including pyrotechnic displays, lights, and actors in costumes, as well as horror themed concession stands with food and drinks based on the movie Killer Klowns from Outer Space, as well as the Weeknd maze that all come together to make the park’s aesthetic and feel uniquely suited to the holiday.

Each year, the themes of the mazes change and are usually based on old and new horror movies with occasional original mazes. This year, an all new maze based on the music and artistry of the R&B singer, The Weeknd, who is the highlight of the event. Some of the other mazes featured this year were The Terror Tram based on the films of Jordan Peele, Halloween, Universal Monsters Legends Collide, Killer Klowns From Outer Space and more.

I was able to go through most of the mazes and rides in the park with the after 2 p.m. park and Horror Nights ticket. I was at the park from 2 p.m. until it closes at 2 a.m. There were many great mazes at the event.

Some favorites are The Killer Klowns From Outer Space maze. This maze was probably my favorite one of the night as I am quite the fan of the movie. The maze was very true to the setting of the movie with the hallways and rooms of the clowns spaceship looking like they could’ve come out of the movie itself. The costumes of the actors were also very faithful to the movie and it all tied together to become one of the most memorable mazes of the event.

Another one of the mazes I enjoyed the most was the Universal Monsters Legends Collide maze. I went into the maze expecting it to be underwhelming based on the original characters from the movies of the 30s-50s but was pleasantly surprised when the characters had been revised into more modern terrifying recreations. Because of this, the maze turned out to be a surprising contender for one of the best and scariest mazes of the night.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the event and would recommend it to anyone thinking of something fun to do this Halloween season.
