Taylor Swift Releases New Album
Renowned American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift released her album, Red (Taylor’s Version) on November 12, 2021. The album includes 30 tracks and is a re-recorded album of her original, Red that was released on October 22, 2012. Red (Taylor’s Version) contains all of the songs that were supposed to be released in 2012.
Swift re-recorded all of her previous songs in her 2012 Red album due to Shamrock Capital, an investment firm based in Los Angeles, purchasing all of her previous works. Then, in 2019, a man named Scooter Braun paid for the music label that owned all of Swift’s songs.
Swift’s former music label, Big Machine, now owns six of her old albums. Big Machine’s president, Scott Bruchetta, wanted Swift to re-sign and proposed an offer that would supposedly “return” her albums. Swift replied, posting on her blog, “once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future.”
After signing with a new label, Universal Music Publishing Group, in 2018, she has licensed her new recordings and posted them on streaming platforms. In the new recordings, the nuances are almost identical. From changing an instrument in the background to be louder to tweaking a note or two in the melody, Swift has her ways of getting revenge. The new and re-recorded tracks have attracted loads of attention over the past week on social media platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, and TikTok.
One of the featured tracks on this new album is “All Too Well” and it is ten minutes long. In the original album, the song was still lengthy at five minutes and twenty-nine seconds. There is also a short film included in the album for the song “All Too Well” which is a romantic, drama short film that tells a story between a couple. The short film has been the #1 Trending video in the music category of YouTube.
Upon the release of the album, it has already broken two Spotify records. One record being how she was the most streamed female in a single day. Her songs had 122.9 million streams on its release date, three-quarters of the streams coming from her newly released album.
The album indicates Taylor Swift’s battle against her old label. It emphasizes Swift’s success and dedication in her career. Her album mainly centers around romance and recovery after heartbreak. It talks about the details in between her most recent relationship and breakup. Her writing has helped her fans recover from their relationship issues. Throughout her career, Swift is known for powering through her relationships while still ensuring her own success through her passion.
